Objectives:

Students to understand Blood Brothers and explore the issue of Fame. Students to understand why and how to use mediums, elements and strategies to communicate their ideas and concepts to others. For students to be able to work collaboratively in a team and develop their imaginative facilities. For students to be able to write up their experiences under supervised conditions, reflecting on their learning throughout the assessment lessons.

Unit 3: Mock Performance Exam

To create a twisted fairy tale that is devised in groups of 3-9.

To plan a performance and experience using lighting and sound to create atmosphere.

Exploring the characters, themes and issues of Blood Brothers using specific mediums, strategies and elements. To demonstrate imagination and collaborative skills. To evaluate own and others work verbally.

To write up an evaluative essay on the practical lessons in terms of controlled assessment; writing up the verbal evaluation conducted during the practical lessons. 

Students will explore a variety of aspects on Fame:

What it means, why people want fame, how they get it, the downsides of fame and the pressures and consequences of it.

They will use a variety of stimuli and use mediums, elements and strategies to communicate their ideas.  To demonstrate imagination and collaborative skills. To evaluate own and others work verbally.

To write up an evaluative essay on the practical lessons in terms of controlled assessment; writing up the verbal evaluation conducted during the practical lessons. 

Students will be assessed on this performance and peer assess their performances.

They will be rehearsing and developing their performances throughout the term resulting in a final performance.

To work from a script and perform and rehearse an extract from “Teechers”. 

Unit 3: Actual Performance Exam

Students work in groups to create a performance – either scripted or devised. This will be externally assessed.

Students will be assessed on this performance and will decide whether they are better at working from a script or devising your own.

They will use this experience to feed into their final performance exam to enable students to play to their strengths.
