Year 7 Boys Rugby Report

The Year 7 Boys Rugby Team had a match against local rivals Carshalton Boys on Monday. Having played the same opposition earlier in the season (and given them a very close encounter), this was our chance to have another attempt at the boys in black.

After a fairly even opening ten minutes, with both teams enjoying successful spells of possession, the Car Boys team began to move the ball away from the contact area quicker, meaning there was more space for them to attack out wide. Some strong but silky running saw the opposition run in two tries in two minutes, breaching the blue defence with a couple of excellent efforts.  The pressure continued the home team were forced to make tackle after tackle, which we did down to the fitness levels and energy of the whole team.

In the second half, chances began to arrive, as tiredness crept into both teams.  A fine move down the left wing saw Bobby catch Carshalton defence unaware – and ran half the length of the pitch to score.  It was just what the boys deserved.  More pleasing performances from Matthew O and Kacper B who regularly attend training, as well as Jake L who was lively as ever.

Despite finishing with defeat, the boys can be proud of their performance and pleased with the progress made this season.

Well done to all who played,

Mr Ford
