End of the League

The 2017-2018 netball league came to a close for the year 9 netball team on Tuesday 20th January with an away fixture against Glenthorne. Having won their home game, the girls went into the game feeling confident.

Losing the centre pass, Stanley park began the game at an early disadvantage.  Turning the ball over quickly, it was only a matter of minutes before GS L. Searle secured the first goal of the game. With a SPH centre next and already one goal ahead, SPH utilised their advantage, taking the score to 2-nil. After a fast first third and play by SPH the whistle went at 2-nil.

The second third was underway with R.Davies coming on for H. Ralph-Indarsigh. Conceding an early goal, Glenthorne bought the score to 2-1. This third, Glenthorne found their feet and began to dominate possession, in their goal third. E. Mvidbulu and E. Goulding demonstrated some first class defending to prevent Glenthorne from scoring. The second third was over 3-1 to SPH.

Going into the final third, SPH looked confident with a 2 point lead. Despite the best efforts of SPH, Glenthorne dominated the game at a pace which could not be matched by Stanley park result in several conceded goals. An unlucky end to a fantastic game.

Final score 3-9 to Glenthorne.

A fantastic game, a huge well done to all players.
