Year 11 Boys Football Team in penalty shoot-out drama..!!

The Year 11 Boys Football team suffered penalty-shoot out heartache, as they were narrowly beaten by Carshalton Boys in the Sutton Cup semi-final last week. After an excellent and closely fought match, the score was 4-4 after normal time. With the rules of this competition meaning there was no extra-time, a penalty shoot-out ensued.

The boys brave enough to step up and take a spot kick were captain Jessy Dungui, Bobby van Dyck, Zac Buckley and Jamie Greenaway. After Jessy and Bobby dispatched theirs confidently, unfortunately Zac had his effort saved by the Car Boys goalkeeper. Despite our fourth penalty being converted by Jamie, the opposition scored all five of theirs, even with Mason Jenkins doing his upmost to stop them. This was the closest this year group have come to beating this opposition.  It shows how much the squad have improved, as individuals as well as a team.

The match was the last fixture this team will play as a SPH cohort, with some boys staying on in the 6th Form and others moving elsewhere.  Having taken this group over the last three seasons, I can genuinely say how pleased and impressed I have been with their development – and how they have matured as pupils and players.  I wish them the best of luck with their future involvement in football and hope they continue to progress and enjoy the game.

Well done lads,

Mr Ford
